Subject Specific Information
On this page, you can access key documentation for all of our Foundation subjects. English and Maths information can be found separately Documents reflect the skills and knowledge of our curriculum.
For some subjects, not all of the content can be published. This is due to copyright where schemes have been purchased e.g Design Technology or PE. Documentation can be viewed, internally, to reflect the progression of substantive and disciplinary knowledge in subjects where this applies.
Our topics are driven by Geography and History learning. The individual knowledge of all subjects is retained but cross-curricular outcomes may feature as end-products in areas such as Art.
At Abbey Hill, we teach RE to ensure that our pupils know and understand a range of religions including their beliefs and practices. This begins locally and broadens globally. Based upon the law and DfE guidance, a minimum of 5% curriculum time is allocated to the teaching of RE. In the UK, parents still have the right to withdraw their children from RE on the grounds that they wish to provide their own RE. This provision will be the parents’ responsibility. This right of withdrawal exists for all pupils in all types of school, including schools with and without a religious designation. Students aged 18 or over have the right to withdraw themselves from RE.
