• Talk is the vehicle through which children think, explore, rehearse, question and develop ideas.
• Oracy Education is the deliberate development of children’s ability to articulate ideas, develop understanding and engage with others through speaking, listening and communication.

At Abbey Hill, children learn to talk, learn through talk and learn about talk.

As a result of this learning, our approach ensures that oracy is explicitly taught, purposefully used to deepen learning across the curriculum, and developed progressively so that every child becomes an increasingly confident, thoughtful and effective communicator.
